STUDY ABROAD

From building your resume, to perfecting your foreign language skills, studying abroad is a smart choice for most college students. But, in addition to its many academic benefits, studying abroad is also a fun and exciting way to travel. Study Abroad Website

The Center for International Programs was established in 1981 for the unified coordination of international education activities at Murray State. Renamed the Institute for International Studies (IIS) in 1998, one of the principal components of this focus is providing MSU students with an array of study abroad options with the assistance of a Study Abroad Coordinator.

  • Study abroad options include a full academic year, a semester, summer or winter break terms.
  • During any year, most academic disciplines will be represented by course work abroad.
  • Academic credit is available so that any student, with appropriate planning, can proceed toward graduation.
  • 50+ programs are offered through direct exchanges and several consortia, including: IBS, KIIS, CCSA, CEA, & AustraLearn.
  • Programs through KIIS, CCSA, IBS and our direct exchange in Germany are also available to visiting students from other universities.
  • Financial aid applies in all cases, and scholarships are available in most programs.
  • Costs and eligibility requirements vary, and students should contact individual program directors or the Study Abroad Coordinator for assistance.

The Study Abroad Coordinator also maintains information on study abroad programs available through other universities or agencies to help each student locate the study abroad program right for him or her.
