Students are strongly encouraged to have a health insurance plan. It is also recommended that the insurance plan is carefully evaluated to determine whether it can be used in the local area (e.g., is it a PPO or HMO plan that will not cover local physicians and hospital? Would it require that the student return home for care that cannot be provided at Health Services?)

If you do not have health insurance, or if you need additional coverage while a student, you might consider purchasing a basic policy that the university offers through a private agency. Currently, the plan is underwritten by The Mega Life and Health Insurance Company - Student Insurance Division. The rates may vary from year to year.

The insurance company mails brochures to all students prior to the fall semester. Brochures are also available at Health Services throughout the year.
