CURRIS CENTER

Murray State University's Curris Center is considered to be "the living room" of the campus. The student center provides an ideal location for many activities including conferences, meetings, banquets, movies, dances, receptions and performances.

Banquet Rooms
The Curris Center Banquet Rooms can be set to accommodate a wide variety of events. Many annual events for the students and community are held in "The Ballroom," the largest of the Curris Center facilities. It will accommodate up to 900 people for lectures, 800 for banquets and can be divided into two smaller banquet rooms. Both rooms have a projection screen and a public address system. The capacity of the banquet rooms depends upon the set-up.

Commonwealth Suite
The Commonwealth Suite is a distinguished, formal dining room and adjacent meeting area. This area is available for university functions.

Guest Rooms
Located on the third floor of the Curris Center are four guest rooms. These spacious rooms offer the comforts of the most modern hotel rooms. These rooms are reserved exclusively for guests of the university.

The River Rooms
There are four meeting rooms located on the third floor named for the rivers which flow in or around Kentucky. The capacity of these rooms ranges from 18 to 50 dependent upon the set-up.

The Barkley Lecture Room
The Barkley Room is a tiered seat lecture area which will seat 96 people.

Theatre
The Curris Center theatre seats 325 guests. This area is ideal for movies, debates, and lectures.

Sugar Cube
The sweet shop of the Curris Center, the Sugar Cube, is located on the second floor. It features donuts, scones, homemade fudge and candy, cookies, soft drinks, popcorn, gourmet coffees, and Donna's Homemade Cinnamon Rolls. Yummy!!!! Dunker's Deli
Dunker's Deli is the sandwich shop located on the second floor of the Curris Center. Their menu consists of specialty sandwiches, fresh bistro sandwiches, and fresh salads. We can be reached by calling 270-809-3223.

Bookstore
Second floor is also home to the Murray State University Bookstore. The Bookstore offers a variety of goods and services including textbooks, gift items, clothing, personal items, check cashing, and general merchandise. For more information, you may give us a call at 270-809-4388.

Post office
The Curris Center houses the University Post Office on the second floor. In this full service post office you may mail packages, buy stamps and money orders, and rent a post office box. If you have further questions, please feel free to give us a call at 270-809-4392.

Banking
The Curris Center houses two ATM machines on the second floor outside the Bookstore. These ATM's are affiliated with two of our local banks, BB&T and Regions Bank. The Regions Bank ATM is affiliated with the following networks: Star, VISA, Plus, MasterCard, Maestro, Cirrus, American Express and Discover. The BB&T ATM is affiliated with these networks: MagicLine, Cirrus, PLus, tyme, VISA, MasterCard, Honor, and Cash Station.

Cafeteria
The Thoroughbred Room, more commonly known as the T-Room, serves breakfast and lunch five days a week. Located on the second floor, the T-Room offers daily lunch specials, grill items, salads, and freshly baked desserts. We may be reached by calling 270-809-6931.

TV Lounge
The TV Lounge, located on the first floor of the Curris Center, is a popular area perfect for watching sporting and entertainment events on television. It features a large screen TV and comfortable seating.

Game room
The Curris Center Gameroom, located on the first floor, offers video and pinball games, pool and ping-pong tables, darts, and foosball. For further information, please feel free to phone us at 270-809-6900.

MSU Fitness Center
In an effort to enhance wellness and provide an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to interact outside the classroom, the Curris Center has opened a new fitness facility inside the gameroom. This facility offers an ideal workout on many levels with 8 treadmills, 5 upright bikes, 1 recumbent bike, 2 steppers, 2 Nordic Tracks, 4 ellipticals, a variety of selectorized weight machines, free weights and dumbells, and a resource area. The MSU Fitness Center is open Monday through Friday, 6am - 8am and 11:30am - 10pm, Saturday, 12pm - 8pm, and Sunday, 12pm - 10pm. These hours may vary during school holidays and break periods. Art Gallery

Office of African-American Student Services - Ethnic Programs
This office exists to serve and support students of all colors. The Office of African-American Student Services - Ethnic Programs sponsors cultural, social, and educational programs/workshops on campus. Since the largest minority group is African-American, the office spends much of its efforts in helping make Murray State a comfortable and welcome environment for African-American students. All students are encouraged to visit the Office of African-American Student Services - Ethnic Programs and share concerns or seek assistance in career, education, or college/cultural adjustment. Campus Activities
Campus Activities is the home of the Student Government Association which is composed of three branches: the Student Senate, the Campus Activities Board, and the Judicial Board. Students involved in the Student Senate gain experience in Murray State's legislative process. The Campus Activities Board is composed of 14 chairpersons with committees who plan and promote activities for students and the community. The Judicial Board represents students by hearing parking appeals and violations of the University's Code of Conduct. Working together, we can make Murray State University a great experience. Student Organizations
The Student Organizations Office, located in Room 314 of the Curris Center, is responsible for registering all student groups on campus. Any student organization wishing to use university facilities or property, the university name, or to solicit membership on campus must register with the Student Organizations Office no later that the third Friday in September each year. At that time a list of current presidents and advisors is compiled and available to students, faculty and staff. Newly formed groups may register at any time during the school year and may hold two meetings on campus for organizational purposes prior to registering with the university. In order to be a recognized organization, a group must have a full-time faculty or staff member serve as an advisor. The registration form must include a clear statement of puropse for the organization and signatures from the advisor and club officers confirming that they will abide by university policies and state laws regarding hazing and membership requirements. Greek Life
There are twenty social fraternities and sororities at Murray State University. Groups with chapters on our campus are: Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Sigma Phi, Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa Alpha Psi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Pi, Sigma Tau Gamma, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Sigma Sigma Sigma. MSU Food Service Offices
The Food Service Offices are located in room 101 of the Curris Center. Here you may take advantage of many of the services offered, from arranging a catered meal to reserving a grill for your outdoor activity. You may obtain more information by phoning 270-809-6879.
